The Mad Farmer liberation front Manifesto – Wendell Berry
Love the quick profit, the annual raise, vacation with pay.
Want more of everything ready-made.
Be afraid to know your neighbours and to die.
And you will have a window in your head.
Not even your future will be a mystery any more.
Your mind will be punched in a card and shut away in a little drawer
When they want you to buy something they will call you.
When they want you to die for profit they will let you know.
Every day do something that won’t compute.
Love the Lord.
Love the world. Work for nothing.
Take all that you have and be poor.
Love someone who does not deserve it.
Denounce the government and embrace the flag.
Hope to live in that free republic for which it stands.
Give your approval to all you cannot understand.
Praise ignorance, for what man has not encountered he has not destroyed.
Ask the questions that have no answers.
Invest in the millennium. Plant sequoias.
Say that your main crop is the forest that you did not plant,
that you will not live to harvest.
Say that the leaves are harvested when they have rotted into the mold.
Call that profit Prophesy such returns.
Put your faith in the two inches of humus that will build under the trees
every thousand years.
Listen to carrion – put your ear close,
and hear the faint chattering of the songs that are to come.
Expect the end of the world. Laugh. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Laughter is immeasurable, Laughter is immeasurable, Laughter is immeasurable
Be joyful though you have considered all the facts.
So long as women do not go cheap for power, please women more than men.
Ask yourself: Will this satisfy a woman satisfied to bear a child?
Will this disturb the sleep of a woman near to giving birth? Near to giving Birth.
Go with your love to the fields. Lie down in the shade.
Rest your head in her lap.
Swear allegiance to what is nighest your thoughts.
As soon as the generals and the politicos
can predict the motions of your mind,
lose it. Leave it as a sign to mark the false trail,
the way you didn’t go.
Be like the fox who makes more tracks than necessary,
some in the wrong direction.
Practice resurrection.

Something we should know
05:02
|
|||
There's Something we should know
There's something we should know
Which way should we all go
'Cos we are at a crossroads
Looking for direction, don't you know
We have come a long long way
And we have got a lot to say
But to keep on going
We must use the things we're knowing
If we do what we do we can do it with a better view
Its not just me, its me and you
Grab your tools and change the game
'Cos nothing, nothing will remain the same..
People are crying
People are dying
So many are trying
To build a better world where our children can play
So stand up and have your say..
And everything around us now
Is there for all of us to share
Do it for the children... everywhere
And show them that we all dare to care.
There's something we should know
Which way should we all go
'Cos we are at a crossroads
Looking for direction don't you know

Lover Earth
06:32
|
|||
She served us as a mother for two hundred thousand years
Gave us what we needed and soothed all our fears
Always there to give – she gave us of her flesh
So that we could thrive form birth through to death
Lover lover earth I wanna love you
We took and we took and then we took some more
And when then was none left we started many wars
Never thinking to give back or that she might have needs
We abused our mama with our selfish deeds
Now she is groaning and wounded by our greed
Her rivers are all dirty and she's starting to bleed
Her oceans are poisoned and oil blood sucked away
The air now full of smog that darkens all our days
Too many years of childhood has left us in this state
With mother dying – she gave too much – I hope it's not too late
Grow up and Love the earth no longer as a mother
But as a companion now she is our lover
Look after one another as only lovers can
Care for her wounds wake up our fellow man
Bring back the beauty she once shared with us all
And love her day and night answering all her calls
Listen to what she says as we tend her sacred lands
Be grateful when she gives to us with her kind kind hands
And love her like a lover for the next ten thousand years
Be a shoulder to cry on when her eyes are full of tears

Mister President
05:35
|
|||
Dear Mister President how do you sleep at night?
Your people they are hungry yet you ignore their plight
Their houses they've been stolen by the bankers you did save
They wonder where they'll get the courage to survive another day
Dear Mr. President, Oh can you hear us at all, Can you see us at all
Dear Mister President how do you sleep at all?
Knowing that your drones are causing the innocent to fall
Your soldier at his console thinks it's all just a game
He presses kill, drinks a beer and feels he's not to blame
Dear Mister President how do you sleep in bed?
Whilst young men do your killing and their women count the dead
And do they know they fight just to keep the money rollin'
They gave their lives for a dream that long ago was stolen
Dear Mister President do you care at all?
You were elected to represent us and yet you let us fall
Your friends, the elite, are happy with your reign
They are getting richer but none of us have gained
Dear Mr President you must be shaken to your bones
You thought you 'd have some power when you rose to your throne
But you're no more than the puppet of those with interest
And now you do what you're told or you get a bullet in the chest
Oh when your time comes and you stand at that gate
When your heart it is weighed and you finally hear your fate?
Will you see you sold your soul because you thought you must
For a pocket full of gold and a hand full of dust

To be Kind
05:02
|
|||
Unload the pain and strain
Don't want it in my brain
it takes too much life away from me
Sometimes you just have to change
Change the page from time to time
It ain't nothing anyway
And everything will be ok
Gravitate your own way
That's what I say
In between the lines I think you'll find the rhyme and reason,
Reason to find the time to be kind
What's between the lines is other lines of conversation
That leads me to another frame of mind
What's on your mind?
Unload the pain and strain
Don't need it again and again
It takes so much shine away from me
And if your trying to find your mind
Make sure your kinda kind
'Cos nothing comes from pressure and pain
It takes you away from the game
It's all the same
It makes me hurried and worried
And I feel kinda strange to be around
And all the time my blissful state.... is just a moment away
My perception and direction are all down to me
It's as simple as how you frame your mind and where you put your time
To find the truth and find your line
To define and be fine, is always on your mind
Is always on your mind.. is always on your mind anyway
Unload the pain and strain
Don't want it in my brain
It takes too much life away from me
Sometimes you just have to change
Change the page from time to time
It ain't nothing anyway
And everything will be ok
Gravitate your own way
That's what I say
In between the lines I think you'll find the rhyme and reason,
Reason to find the time
To be kind

We Have the Choice
05:08
|
|||
Remain a slave another 1000 years, Break the shackles and step free of our fears
Tow the line in mediocrity, live our dreams and be free
Bury our heads in the sand, Awaken now and love the land
Keep on heading for the cliff, Turn around and make the shift
We have the Choice
And it just can't wait
We have the choice
It's not too late
We have the Choice
Allow our leaders to dictate our lives Take back our power and look after the skies
Allow destruction of community Come together and celebrate unity
Pollute the rivers and the sea Turn the tide and bring back the beauty
Cut down all our sacred trees Plant a forest and allow the earth to breathe
For our children – how will life be?
For their children – what will they see?
It's up to us – we have the key
Can we turn it and set the future free?

I Wanna Feel
04:43
|
|||
In every waking moment she is waiting there for me
Patiently holding out her hand to see if I'm ready
In the wind I hear the whisper of her silent call
Now she's looking up to me can I see her at all?
I want to feel the rain on my skin
I want to dance in the fire that burns within
I want to push my hands into the earth
I want to feel the wind blow through my soul Experience rebirth
I wanna feel, be real
In every passing cloud I see her looking down on me
As the water falls into the stream she wants me to be free
And now she dances in the wind upon a falling leaf
Asking me to fly with her to step beyond belief
With every drop of rain I feel my soul come alive
With my hands in the earth I know that I have arrived
The sun beats down upon my back as I work in the land
As the wind caresses me I feel her ever loving hands

Nothing to Prove
04:42
|
|||
Just being here is life affirming
just seeing the land just feeling the energy is often enough
Just walking here through the trees uplifts and replenishes the spirit
having space time and earth beneath my feet helps heal the pain and
lifts the weight from my shoulders
I have nothing to prove anymore
I have enough and feel full of joy and hope
on my island of vibration I can feel the ocean that surrounds me
I am not alone I am one of many in the valleys and hills
I weave my way and make my wave in the energy that surrounds me

Where do we go from here
04:15
|
|||
Where do we go from here
Can't go on forever
Where do we go from here
now that all is said and done
knowing how it once begun?
oh oh
Got everything we dreamed of
All the things that we love
But she is hurting
We've taken too much
What do we do when there's no more to give?
We've got to stop and change the way we live
Can't go on forever
Taken more than we should have
Only thinking of ourselves
Never seeing what we're doing
To each other
We got what we needed and then took more
Never thinking about the future we never saw
Can't go on forever
Where do we go from here
now that all is said and done
knowing how it once begun?
oh oh
Got to change our ways
Start listening to her
A little more each day
Show that we care
We can change our world starting from now
Have the courage to find a way that will allow
Us to go on forever
Where do we go from here
now that all is said and done
knowing how it once begun?
oh oh
